Chicago, IL (January 2016) - When GDS – Global Destination for Shoes & Accessories, returns to the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany, from February 10-12, 2016, exhibitors from around the world will  showcase their collections for the 2016/17 Autumn/Winter season. The following nine Labels to Watch will be featured this time: Fratelli Lisco, G-Star, Jack & Jones Footwear, Lyle & Scott, Philipp-Lacquer, Roy Robson, Ten Points, Timberland and Veja.

Hall 9/G11, STUDIO: Fratelli Lisco – Futuristic Appeal
An Italian sense of style and futuristic look enter into a symbiosis at the luxury shoe label Fratelli Lisco founded in Milan in 2013. The highlights of the 2016/17 Autumn/Winter season in the “Gravity Collection” include unisex Gravity Boots with their traditional shape and futuristic appeal. High-shine nylon from Italy is combined with fine leather. Making for a spacy style with strong, chiaroscuro shine effects is padding that brings depth in graphically quilted patterns. “Gravity Intrecciato” is what Fratelli Lisco calls this technology that adapts the classic “Intrecciato” braiding technique. It is also used on the new backpacks. Underlining the ultra-modern look are luminous and metallic colors like gold, bronze, silver, strong blue and red. For customers preferring a more moderate fashion touch there are traditionally designed styles in the premium high and low-top sneakers segment. The colors here are both calm and loud.

Hall 10/A04, POP UP: G-Star RAW – First In-House Collection Premiere
True to their credo “Just the product”, the Dutch label G-Star is designing, developing and distributing the shoes itself. Until now the G-Star shoe collection was created under license and distributed by Overland Footwear Limited but for the 2016 Autumn/Winter season G-Star has taken full charge of its shoe collection which started in 2007. After taking over the license, the G-Star RAW shoe collection was developed for the first time alone and in-house and now presents a modern classic look but always with a special twist. This first in-house collection was designed by a specially created design team that ensures the footwear styles for men and women perfectly fit G-Star’s DNA.

Hall 4/B25, HIGHSTREET: Jack & Jones Footwear – Robust Winter Sneakers
For the 2016/17 Autumn/Winter collection, the Danish label Jack & Jones Footwear drew inspiration from the creative metropolis Hamburg - for the plimsole to the sneaker and the leather bootie to all styles in its footwear range. Jack & Jones Footwear continued its collaboration with sneaker guru Tuan Le. Bearing the signature style of this well-known co-designer is the Danish design team’s latest coup: robust sneaker soles especially for winter. At GDS, they will present its sneaker collection launched last season with a winter facelift. While the JFWBayard Combo Sneaker and the JFWGilliam Mixed Sneaker styles have been developed with a robust winter-proof look and feel, the JFWHatton Combo Sneaker Boot and the JFWInvictus Mesh Sneaker take the higher functionality demands in the winter product group to a higher level.

Hall 4/D31, HIGHSTREET: Lyle & Scott – Footwear Fashion for Gentlemen 30+
Men aged 30+ is the target group of Lyle & Scott. Therefore the British brand is now taking a more classical approach – presenting mainly formal styles like brogues, Derby and Chelsea boots for 2016/107 Autumn/Winter. The classic collection is complemented by the Lyle & Scott casual segment which has also been given a more grown-up makeover. That means that the casual leather sneakers and desert boots are also aimed at the men’s 30+ target group. In line with this fine-tuning, GDS newcomer Lyle & Scott is looking back to its roots this season. The lifestyle brand can draw on its experience accumulated over 142 years of company history, condensing its entire skilled craftsmanship into the 2016/17 Autumn/Winter collection. For instance, in the classic segment formal brogues, Derby and Chelsea boots made of premium grain leather will be in the spotlight. Just like their leather sneakers and desert boots in the casual segment, they reflect that typical Lyle & Scott style with their slim silhouettes and modern looks while still looking more grown-up.

Hall 9/B10, STUDIO: Philipp-Lacquer – Sophisticated Flair Made in Germany
The positioned lozenge pattern and plaque with its chiseled logo make the styles from premium bag label Philipp-Lacquer unmistakable. At this German company mainstream is taboo. The style is instead characterized by sophisticated, international flair. The bags are made exclusively at German leather manufacturing workshops. Owner and Head Designer Philipp Reiner describes the brand story of his Philipp-Lacquer bag label founded in 2012 as the “start of a passion”: at a friend’s car upholstery workshop a lozenge pattern was reflected in the patent leather giving him the idea for the positioned signature pattern and the name that now adorns every bag on a finely engraved metal plaque. For the Autumn/Winter 2016/17 season there is the classic “New York” collection alongside the “Riviera” styles. With the soft “Rom” collection the designer envisions a sunny day, picturesque streets and delightful cafés.

Hall 9/G22, STUDIO: Roy Robson – Return to Essence
The shoe collection at men’s lifestyle brand Roy Robson will be expanded for the Autumn/Winter 2016/17 season. High-quality leather combinations as well as new shapes and colors are the focus. The collection theme is “Return to Essence”. The established business, semi and casual styles will now be joined by high-quality leather combinations, new shapes and colors. New last shapes for double welt-sewn styles made of fine calfskin leather are among the highlights in the premium collection. Characteristic are square-toed forms with classily curved tips and elaborately hand-smudged heels and toes. There are matching belts for every shoe. Now more than ever, the styles are also attuned to the complete outfits in the Roy Robson collection. The sneakers even feature fabric patterns that are found on jackets, hats and gloves. The shoes include real leather lining and genuine leather half-soles featuring the Roy Robson knot-shaped emblem and comfort padding.

Hall 10/E04, POP UP: Ten Points – Slow Fashion from Sweden
Fashion takes “its foot off the accelerator”! The buzzwords Slow Fashion and Sustainability currently stand for an (environment-) conscious approach to fashion and a departure from fast, short-lived trends. Deceleration is now “in” and the philosophy of Swedish shoe label Ten Points perfectly matches this mainstream countermovement. Founded in Norrtälje near Stockholm in 1983 the company describes itself as a lifestyle brand with a no-frills, Scandinavian design signature. Each pair of shoes – there are women’s and men’s collections – is designed in Sweden and made in Portugal involving a high degree of manual work. Three sources of inspiration characterize the collection look for Autumn/Winter 2016/17: high-fashion color blocking and asymmetries ensure a colorful entry into the season. The second tableau exudes an old fairy-tale feel thanks to dark-dyed leather types. And, finally, the third group has nature “on its mind” with styles in vegetable-tanned leather and a touch of vintage.

Hall 4/D24, HIGHSTREET: Timberland – Heritage meets Innovation
With its 2016/17 Autumn/Winter collection “Heritage & Innovation” Timberland has reinvented its heritage. The collection is, on the one hand, an homage to its icon – the Original Yellow Boot – while, on the other, it celebrates modern craftsmanship. Moving with the times though still remaining true to their classics: this is the bold balance struck by Timberland next winter. While the legendary 8-Inch Boot has been linked to the U.S. label since its creation in 1973, the footwear comfort system SensorFlex represents the fresh innovative power of this GDS returning exhibitor founded in 1952. SensorFlex is a three-layer outsole that offers constant support, active suspension and dynamic flex. For Autumn/Winter 2016/17 Timberland will not just celebrate its iconic men’s 8-Inch Boot as a special premium style made of finest Horween leather – Made in USA. For women, Timberland also focuses on SensorFlex reinforcement. Just like for men, the boat shoe Amherst is also a key style for women. Further Sensorflex highlights are the brand-new styles Kenniston and Killington, supplemented by a range of Sensorflex-free booties delivered for autumn made of suede and for winter made of full-grain leather and waterproof materials.

Hall 10/B05, POP UP: Veja – Who Makes your Sneakers?
Eco awareness, fair working conditions and absolute transparency on the origin and the required amount of materials are top priorities at Franco-Brazilian sneaker label Veja. The raw materials come from Brazil where all styles are also manufactured. Distribution is managed via France. Veja sneakers are easy to recognize by their clipped V lettering. Minimalist design meets innovative technology. They have styles for women, men and kids. The light polyester outer materials made of breathable and water-repellent bottle-mesh are made 100% from recycled plastic bottles. The bottles are processed in a factory in Santo André. Recycled cotton or cotton from ecological and fair cultivation from Taua is used for the canvas and the J-mesh uppers made of jute. The leather from the edible tropical tilapia fish whose unusual scaly texture gives the shoes their unique look comes from Sao Paulo and is ecologically tanned. The natural rubber for the soles is supplied by Fairtrade companies in Acre. For all running styles innovative “Liquid Rubber Technology” (L.R.T.) developed in cooperation with the University of Brazil makes for greater elasticity and suppleness. The sneakers are manufactured in a modern factory facility in Porto Alegre.
