Tucson, AZ (December 5, 2019) – The National Shoe Retailers Association (NSRA) honored Hoka One One as its 2019 Vendor of the Year during NSRA's leadership conference held November 13-14, 2019 in St. Louis, MO at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel.

The company, founded in France in 2009, takes its name from the Maori language for “to fly over the earth.” In 2013, Hoka One One was purchased by Deckers Brands and is now headquartered in California. Their shoes were initially developed for ultra-marathoners, and are extremely lightweight, yet well-cushioned and supportive, stable and impact-absorbing. All Hoka shoes are designed with a Meta-Rocker, with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole creating a fulcrum effect, like a rocking chair, that supports a runner's natural form while promoting an efficient and smooth roll from initial impact to toe-off.

Hoka One One's declared mission is “to deliver the best product, defy convention, innovate fiercely, operate thoughtfully and inspire people to move.” Both Hoka and Deckers are committed to giving back to the community; among Hoka's give-back activities are its support of the Ironman triathlon, and Postal Nationals, a time-trial event for high school cross-country teams.

In presenting the award to Lori Dalaker, the company's national sales manager/independent specialty, NSRA Board Member John Luck (Lucky Shoes, Fairlawn, OH) said “Hoka One One is passionate about running and about giving back. Both passions are shining examples in the footwear industry, and it is a great pleasure to have Lori Dalaker here to accept this honor on behalf of her company and the public it serves.”

Luck added, “Hoka One One makes fantastic shoes designed to meet the needs of a variety of users. The company is the proud partner of independent shoe stores around the country, and is also recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association for its commitment to foot health. In fact, Hoka helps people everywhere to fly.”

In accepting the award Dalaker told the independent retailer gathering, “You are 100% aligned with our strategic plan. We've been a word-of-mouth brand, and we've experienced organic growth, in part because of you. I look forward to our continued partnership. Thank you – it is truly an honor to accept this award.”
