Many of us have been drilled and drilled on the importance of backup. We backup files religiously to external hard disks, CD-ROM or DVD or use online services such as Carbonite, HP’s Upline, Dell’s Online backup solution, Backupmyinfo or one of many other offerings.

Beyond file backup, which is important for recovering lost files, having an updated image of your computer’s hard disk (especially you server) is also important.

What’s more stereotypically trivial than shoe shopping? Using Twitter, of course! Online shoe retailer Zappos does shoes and social media remarkably well. Scores of bloggers, lots of video blogging and 198 employees on Twitter help keep the company’s profile high and humanize the folks behind the shoe sales.

Of all the different types of social media the company uses, none are as interesting as its use of Twitter. Twitter may sound cliche, but it’s not just about Twitter as one single service. Twitter is symbolic of rapid, short, synchronous and public conversations. Zappos has bitten off a big chunk of that paradigm.

As a result, more Web buyers report that, on average, they will spend more online in the next year. The segment of the population that is most likely to drive this increase in overall online spend is a set of consumers who saw their personal financial situations improve during the past 12 months. This group is composed of technology-savvy, affluent, career-focused, and convenience-driven consumers. Many online retailers will also be buoyed by price-sensitive consumers who are looking to make their dollars stretch on their planned purchases and are likely to use the Web to comparison shop.

Photo Editing Minus the Software

Editing photos is not easy. I’ve used Paint Shop Pro for years and find it quite complicated. Of course Adobe is the leading photo editing software vendor with Adobe Photoshop and related software leading the market as the “de facto” standard for most graphic artists.



Recently Adobe launched Photoshop Express, which makes it pretty easy for just about anyone, including a busy small business person to edit their own photos. Photoshop Express is pleasantly simple and fun to use.

An apparent tornado struck the Terrasoles.com distribution center in San Angelo, Texas, in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 10, and damaged or destroyed approximately 30% of our building. Thankfully, the facility was closed at the time, and no one was injured.
