Marines Award THOR•LO® Certificate of Commendation: Foot protection seen as critical to combat troops deployed in Afghanistan
(Statesville, NC — December 8, 2010) THOR•LO Incorporated (www.thorlos.com), was awarded a certificate of appreciation on Tuesday, November 16th 2010 by Marine Gunnery Sgt. Lucas Lavadoor. The certificate, which was presented to owner-inventor Jim Throneburg, recognizes the valuable support that THOR•LO has contributed to the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division deployed to Afghanistan. In presenting the award Sgt. Lavadoor stated, "Dr. LaMar, the head of "Operation Caregiver” in San Diego, Dave Ward, and LTC Mooney would like to thank all the employees of THOR•LO for the Thorlos® boot socks shipped to support our troops to get the job done. It’s patriotism like yours that makes our young men and women strive to protect the Freedoms of all Americans.”
THOR•LO has a long history of providing for America’s men and women in uniform. Jim Throneburg said, "It’s really an honor for us to support when product is requested, and we also support and reach out when we become aware of a need. We’ve donated boot socks to American forward deployed troops, and we have collaborated with other organizations that reach out to help our troops in harm’s way. This year we have worked very closely with Dr. LaMar’s Operation Caregiver organization out of San Diego and Dave Ward (father of two Marines), who resides in Huntersville, NC. We recently shipped 3,000 pair of Thorlos Military Anti-Fatigues Over-Calf Boot Socks to the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division stationed in Afghanistan. We continually hear that Thorlos are one of the most requested items on the wish list of Marines fighting the War on Terror.”
THOR•LO has also figured out a way to help its customers get involved with the effort. Consumers who visit the company’s website can purchase and donate Thorlos at cost to forward deployed troops. Throneburg said "thousands of consumers have taken advantage of the opportunity and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity in supporting the troops and we accept this award today on their behalf because they too are critical in making this possible.” Additionally, for the last several years THOR•LO has had the honor to participate at the Christmas party at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury, NC, where each patient receives a pair of Thorlos.
Throneburg added, "Freedom is not free, and we can’t thank our military enough for all that they do to keep us free.”
