New Online Portal Aims to Become the Industry’s “Go-To” Resource for Job Seekers and Employers, with a Charitable Twist

BOSTON, MA (June 1, 2016) -- Two Ten Footwear Foundation, the national foundation serving the footwear industry, has partnered with the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA), the first and only trade organization focused solely on the footwear industry, to create the most comprehensive, online career marketplace available to footwear professionals. Revenue generated from the new Footwear Careers Marketplace website will support a new fund created by Two Ten, specifically to help industry workers who find themselves in between jobs and in need of financial support.

The collaboration was conceived by the two organizations’ presidents, who agree that recruiting, building and retaining talent is a key issue for the footwear industry. By creating a single-stop career resource for professionals seeking a new role, and employers looking to fill open positions, the industry will be better positioned to nurture its own talent. Footwear Careers Marketplace will also be an invaluable tool for job seekers entering the footwear business, as it will include opportunities ranging from entry-level to senior executive. Identified by its intuitive URL, www.workinfootwear.org, the site will cover both the retail and wholesale factions and will feature positions across all footwear- related competencies and areas of expertise.

FDRA President Matt Priest said, “We’re thrilled to be part of this new venture and believe the more our industry works together, the more we will thrive. The Footwear Careers Marketplace will serve our entire industry well on many levels and ensure those looking for work in the footwear industry will be connected with companies in search of new talent. We’re encouraging all FDRA members to take advantage of this exciting new tool.”

Revenue generated by the Footwear Careers Marketplace through fees related to job postings and advertising will fund the new Two Ten Footwear Foundation’s Common Good Fund, that helps support footwear employees who find themselves between jobs and needing financial help beyond what has already been made available to them. Two Ten President Neal Newman said, “Two Ten is about shoepeople helping shoepeople,

and the Footwear Careers Marketplace is organic to this core mission. From helping our industry workers find new jobs or grow their careers, to supporting footwear companies’ efforts to effectively reach new talent, to helping shoepeople in between jobs -- we think the Marketplace is a natural extension of what our organization does everyday.”

The Footwear Careers Marketplace is scheduled to launch June 1st, with a robust listing of opportunities listed by job category, and visitors will have the ability to sort the listings by keyword and by location. The site will be co-managed by Two Ten and FDRA, with responsibilities for design, management and marketing shared between the organizations.
