Celebrating 40 Incredible Years of Making the Most Comfortable Shoes in the World
SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 5, 2016) - For 40 years, San Antonio Shoemakers has been bringing
customers the highest quality, most comfortable shoes in the world. As part of the celebration, SAS will
be re-introducing some of the company’s most popular heritage shoes and handbags as special,
limited edition releases.
January 1st, the company will be offering the ever-popular women’s Siesta 40 and the timeless Diane 40 handbag. Siesta 40, one of the company’s most popular styles, has been in continuous production since it was introduced in 1979. Siesta 40 will be released in limited edition colors, Ruby, Blue, and British Tan. April 1st, SAS will be featuring the hand-stitched women’s Huarache 40 in limited edition Pink, Red, Teal, and Bronze, as well as the classically comfortable men’s Pathfinder 40, a favorite for many years in the men’s line. During the summer, SAS will reintroduce the women’s Lattice 40, a lace up with a perforated for heat ventilation, and the men’s Penny 40, a classic penny loafer. In the fall, SAS will feature women’s Kiltie 40, the number one best seller from the original unlined series, and the men’s Amigo 40, the brand’s first men’s shoe, introduced in 1984. The Anniversary Collection will be featured at certain times during the year and will be available while supplies last.
“Our 40th anniversary is a very special time for SAS. This year, we look back on 40 years of growth and
success. Thanks to our artisan shoemakers, our dedicated account holders, and our loyal customers, the SAS name has become a brand that every member of the SAS family can proud of. What we do is all
about comfort, and the SAS family couldn’t be happier we have been able to bring that comfort to so
many people for 40 years,” says SAS CEO Nancy Richardson.
“I couldn’t be happier the SAS brand has touched so many people,” says Oscar Quintanilla, one of the
original 13 shoemakers who started SAS. “When we began, the only thing we knew for sure was that we
wanted to make shoes that were as comfortable as possible and made with the best materials available.
We couldn’t have guessed we would experience such growth. It feels good to be part of that success.”
The company has a variety of special events for customers and employees planned throughout the year
to commemorate the anniversary. Full details at: https://sasshoes.com/40th-anniversary-event
In 1976, San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS) started a quiet revolution in footwear offering superb craftsmanship and extraordinary comfort. Co-founders Terry Armstrong and Lew Hayden countered a national trend of diminishing quality and cheap foreign manufacturing when they began making shoes that set a new standard in footwear. Today, the company still makes handcrafted shoes in Texas to exacting standards with the very best materials available, making its own shoe forms so that it can offer an unparalleled fit—88 sizes for women and 104 for men—and astonishing comfort. Carried in 200+ SAS stores and in retailers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Korea, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Panama, Chile, Israel, and England—the San Antonio Shoemakers brand is a humble American success story, and continues to be a family-owned enterprise driven by an obsession with fit and quality. Inspiring an ardent customer-base for decades, San Antonio Shoemakers continues to take extra steps, so customers can too.
